Em Março de 1885 é criado o Corpo da Guarda Fiscal. Em 1886 este Corpo era constituído por 4 Batalhões, em Lisboa, Coimbra, Porto e Évora e por 3 Companhias Independentes nas ilhas da Madeira (Funchal) e nos Açores (Ponta Delgada e Angra). A Guarda Fiscal existiu durante 108 anos, tendo sofrido ao longo deste tempo várias alterações. É extinta em Junho 1993 e criada no seio da Guarda Nacional Republicana uma Brigada Fiscal.

In March 1885 the Corp of Fiscal Guard is created.
